Diving into having a hidden disability chromosome 17q12. Gracie has become more apparent with their hidden disability, understanding themselves more as an individual who is unique but wanting to hide this uniqueness. Using themselves to understand this on a personal level. The project portrays a participatory role through creating a photo booth where the artist has interacted with individuals with a variety of hidden disabilities including Tourettes, Adhd and more. The project follows elements of Charlotte Taxonomy as well as taking forms of typologies the work becomes diptychs. Each image alongside each other represents the hidden and the visible through an object, the subjects find comfort within or an expression that represents their hidden disability. The importance of the work is to raise awareness that hidden disabilities showing that they are a part of our community and that although they are not physical they should be considered just as important.
