Framed in Fur
Framed in Fur explores the relationship between fashion, consumerism, and the environment through garments made from real animal fur. The project questions the continued cultural value of real fur despite the availability of synthetic alternatives, while examining its ethical and environmental impact.
Through styling, and expressive posing, the human subject is transformed into an animal-like figure, blurring the boundary between human and animal and symbolically giving the animal a voice. Animal-inspired movements and detailed compositions strengthen the narrative of tension and identity.
A black box frame references historical portraiture and the association of fur with wealth and status, while also suggesting confinement and control. Animal shadows further reinforce ideas of identity and transformation. Overall, the project combines fashion imagery with conceptual storytelling to question value, tradition, and humanity’s relationship with nature.
